Cut from
shadow.
Not a business card. A machined object with your name cut into it — 316L stainless, marked by fibre laser, finished and numbered by hand.
01The object
A card you hand over once.
Paper cards are a formality. They go in a pocket, then a drawer, then a bin. A card with weight to it changes what happens in the ten seconds after you hand it over — it gets turned around, held up to the light, and kept.
Cut, not printed
A fibre laser vaporises the surface layer to a measured depth. There is no ink, no coating and nothing to wear off. The mark is the metal.
Made here, not ordered in
Every card is marked on our own laser, in our own workshop. Nothing is sent out to a contract manufacturer and nothing waits for somebody else's production slot — which is why four days is realistic where most of this trade quotes four weeks.
Finished by hand
Every card is deburred, inspected under raking light and rejected if the grain breaks. Roughly one in twenty does not leave the bench.
02Materials
Six surfaces.
One standard.
The reference. Marine-grade stainless, unidirectionally grained, so the light travels across the surface instead of sitting on it.
03Process
From configurator to hand.
- 01
Configure
Material, finish, layout, your text and artwork. Priced as you go.
5 minutes - 02
Proof
We redraw your artwork as vectors, adapt it to the laser and send a proof. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
1–2 days - 03
Cut
Your card goes on our own fibre laser the day the proof comes back. One card, one setup, no queue behind somebody else's order.
1–2 days - 04
Finish
Deburred, cleaned, inspected under raking light. Rejects go back to blank stock.
2 days - 05
Deliver
Boxed with a microfibre sleeve and a card recording the material, the date it was cut and its number.
1–3 days
04Collection
Six ways in.
05Founder's Edition
The first fifty
carry a number.
Cards 001 to 050 have their edition number cut into the reverse. They open the house, they are made once, and the number is never issued again.
The drop opens to the Forge List first. Join it and you get the message before the numbers go public.
