Craft

One millimetre of metal, taken seriously.

There is not much to a metal card: a blank, a beam and a finish. That is exactly why the details are the whole product.

01Materials

The six

Brushed Steel

316L stainless · 0.8 mm

The reference. Marine-grade stainless, unidirectionally grained, so the light travels across the surface instead of sitting on it.

Obsidian Black

316L stainless · PVD black

Physical vapour deposition bonds a black ceramic layer to the steel. It does not peel, and the laser cuts straight through it to bright metal underneath.

Gunmetal

316L stainless · PVD graphite

Between steel and black. Reads dark in the hand and bright under direct light — the most photographed of the six.

Mirror Chrome

316L stainless · polished

Polished to an optical finish. Shows everything — including fingerprints. Ships with a microfibre sleeve for a reason.

Matte Black

316L stainless · bead-blast + PVD

Bead-blasted before coating, so the surface scatters light instead of reflecting it. The quietest card we make.

Titanium

Grade 2 titanium · 0.8 mm

Around forty per cent lighter than steel — and about half as stiff, so it flexes where steel holds. Warmer grey cast. The material you notice the moment you pick it up.

02Finishes

How the light behaves

The finish decides whether a card whispers or shouts. It is the single choice that changes the object most, and the one people spend longest on.

Brushed

Unidirectional grain

Grained along the long edge. Hides handling, catches light.

Matte

Bead-blasted

Even, non-directional scatter. No glare, no fingerprints.

Mirror

Optical polish

Full specular reflection. The most dramatic, the most demanding.

03Tolerances

What we hold, and what we reject.

Cards are inspected under raking light — held at a shallow angle to a hard source, which is the only way a broken grain or a shallow mark shows itself. Roughly one in twenty goes back to blank stock.

04Questions

Why a fibre laser and not engraving or printing?

At 1064 nm the beam is absorbed by metal rather than reflected, so it removes material instead of heating the surface. Print sits on top and wears off. Mechanical engraving leaves a burr and cannot hold fine type. Fibre marking cuts a clean recess at a controlled depth.

Can a metal card carry NFC?

Not as solid metal — a continuous metal layer shields the antenna. Our NFC cards use a hybrid construction: a metal frame with a window, and a booster antenna in a bonded core. The seam is visible. We treat it as a design line rather than hiding it.

Is this a payment card?

No. We neither issue nor manufacture payment cards — that requires EMVCo certification, approval from every card scheme and a licensed manufacturer. The cards on this page are business, membership, VIP and NFC cards with no payment function. Moving the chip out of a card you already hold is a separate service with its own conditions and its own risks, set out in full on the Card Conversion page.

What happens to my artwork?

We redraw it as vectors and adapt line weights so nothing closes up at 0.05 mm. You approve a proof before anything is cut. Files are kept so reorders match.

Can I return a card?

A card carrying your name, your text or your artwork is made only for you and cannot be resold, so the statutory 14-day withdrawal right does not apply to it. A card configured purely from preset options carries the full 14-day right. The distinction is shown at checkout before you pay.
